Brief

Martin Newman, a global thought-leader on Customer Centricity and Customer Experience, approached Whitefox to publish his latest book, ROI Reimagined.  The author of two previous business titles published by Kogan Page, Martin wanted to collaborate with a publishing partner who could bring the book to market quickly in order to capitalise on marketing and brand-building opportunities.

In ROI Reimagined, Martin challenges the traditional ROI business model, encouraging organisations to redefine what success looks like by introducing new metrics that reflect what truly matters to consumers.

Martin has a large professional network, an established speaking platform and strong media contacts. ROI Reimagined would amplify his existing marketing efforts.  

Execution

Initially Martin was considering a traditional print run, but drawing on our industry expertise, we advised him that a print-on-demand publication route was the best approach in terms of cost efficiency and channels because sales would largely be driven by his own marketing activities.  

We did a thorough copyedit that included some structural suggestions for clarity. The book is hugely practical and authoritative with compelling case studies included, and it was vital to ensure that it was easy to navigate and had an accessible style. The bold, striking cover design reflects the impactful content, clearly positioning the book within the business and leadership category. Martin did an excellent job of recording the audiobook edition of ROI Reimagined in an impressively efficient two days, and an eBook was also created alongside a trade paperback edition.

Martin opted for our Marketing Essentials campaign to boost the book’s discoverability on Amazon, Goodreads and various eBook recommendation platforms.

Results

Having first signed with us in April, ROI Reimagined was published to exceptionally high standards in October. To launch the book, Martin organised a fantastic event in the sumptuous surroundings of Fortnum & Mason, an iconic customer-centric brand that exemplifies the messages of the book. He was interviewed about the book ahead of its publication in The Retail Bulletin

ROI Reimagined is helping Martin to establish further his authority as a thought leader in the field of customer experience. Since publication, he has appeared on Sky News, retail podcasts and he continues to regularly speak at high-profile industry events around the world.
