A memoir for a national treasure

Overview

  • Consultancy on formats
  • Fully integrated publicity campaign

Challenge

As the resident fitness guru on TV-am’s Good Morning Britain for almost a decade, ‘Mad Lizzie’ Webb was ‘essentially the 1980s version of Joe Wicks’, as the Daily Mail put it. But when she wasn’t doing squats and stretches with celebrities, Lizzie’s true passion lay in education, and over the past fifty years she’s helped transform the lives of hundreds of vulnerable children, juvenile offenders and former prisoners. In publishing her memoir, she wanted to share stories from both sides of her extraordinary career.

Approach

Wide media coverage was key, and to help generate early interest Whitefox produced advance proof copies of the book for the publicity campaign. Upon publication Lizzie was feted as a national treasure on television and in the national press, being interviewed on ITV’s Lorraine and Channel 4’s Steph’s Packed Lunch, with stories from her memoir featured in the Mail on Sunday’s You magazine as well as in The Times.
