Pete Adlington

Senior Designer, Canongate

“Pete began his career here at Canongate as Junior Designer in 2011, and was quickly promoted to a more senior role. He is a hugely valued and talented member of my team, working regularly on a wide variety of high-profile authors, including James Kelman, Muriel Spark, Geoff Dyer, Annie Dillard, John Berger, Simon Garfield, Patience Agbabi, John Wray, and many others. Particularly notable is his eye-catching jacket for the number one bestseller, Reasons to Stay Alive by Matt Haig, which has sold 125k copies to date across both print editions. His design for The Outrun by Amy Liptrot has been much admired by both his peers and the general public alike, and was shortlisted for Best Cover at this year’s British Book Awards. I’d love to see him gain the recognition he so richly deserves, as he’s a not only a great designer, but a valuable member of the team and a great inspiration to our junior designers.”
